Age: ~ 8 months Sex: Female Here since: August 28/2021 Roommates: daughters Dozer & Hollis From: Kingston Humane Society (KHS)
Momma Annalise was one of the 50+ rats found discarded in a recycling bin on a hiking trail. The wonderful Kingston Humane Society took them in. Some of these rats were pregnant and 50+ soon turned into 140+! The KHS ran out of adopters in the area, and they quickly found themselves overwhelmed, so reached out and began distributing the rats to other rescues across Ontario.
Momma Annalise was one of the pregnant girls in the recycling bin. Annalise is a pretty, solid black rat. She's small, shy, and is quite food motivated. This girl loves her kiddos, Dozer and Hollis. The 3 of them will have to be adopted together. Annalise would do well with any family who can patiently gain her trust... preferably for her, via lots of yummy treats!
Here's a little note from her foster: "Annalise! Since she's the mom of the bunch, she seems to be a bit more independent and a little less curious, doesn't really feel the need to come say 'Hi,' unless I have something tasty that she wants. I think she thinks my fingers are food, so I've been learning to give her treats from my palm, and hide my fingers under the blanket which helps us both out! (or she's scared of my hands, but either way, this works)."
You should also check out @rylansrats on Instagram who is doing an amazing job at fostering these beautiful girls! They post frequent photos and videos. Annalise has had a stressful start to life, having made it through being dumped and pregnant all at the same time, and then having to move from place to place. She is just waiting for her turn to shine! We’ll update as we get to know her, but we can tell that Annalise and her daughters will be a wonderful addition to someone’s family.
