Meet Lacey & Casey! Age on arrival: ~ 1 year Sex: Females Fostered in: Bowmanville Here since: April 25/2022 From: Crisis response, abandoned in a barn
These girls were abandoned in a barn (see their “before” photo with the green hide). They arrived with mites, URIs, & without having known how great life can be. They’ve since received care, been loved up on, & officially cleared by the vet for adoption!
Casey (markings on back) is an energetic cutie who always loves introductions to new play items & most certainly enjoys her food. Despite missing part of a toe, she likes to climb the cage bars at night and turn over all of the items in the cage – it’s ok, that’s just her way of playing and keeping herself amused. You may not want the cage in a bedroom if you’re used to a quiet night.
Lacey (no markings on back) is a total sweetie who is much more outgoing from when she arrived & is usually the first to come up when it is “out” time. She loves to snuggle into a hoodie or a pocket & will surprise you by climbing up on the door to greet you when you come to open up! Lacey will likely have some mild chronic sneezing. It has improved significantly with all of the right care and usually just gets a bit more noticeable when she is out & about on a carpet or blanket (not unlike with human allergies). It’s not bad that she sneezes; it’s just part of who she is now.
They both love their “out” time, usually for 1hr+ in the evening. When they’re out, Kleenex boxes, egg cartons, & paper bags make great toys - the more mazes & fun things you create for them to search around & run through, the better! It’s also something they now identify with “treat time”
They now have a regular routine & Foster Parent will walk you through – this includes a bit of extra effort in cleanliness due to Lacey’s sneezing. It’s very easy & takes less than 10 min.
They currently get to come out in the morning & climb around on the top of the cage during wipe-down – you can prepare their brekkie bowl while they sit on your shoulders & chatter happily waiting for their healthy yummies. They are sweethearts, true shoulder rats! They’re suitable for just about anyone who can continue their routine & enjoy their newfound happiness with them!
