Volunteer Application

We could use volunteers in the following areas:

Drivers, transporting rats, cages, supplies, attending vet appointments, or collecting donations from jars in local businesses (Ontario-wide)
Storage volunteers, storing cages, store items, auction/raffle items, or sharing shelf items (GTA, Durham, Northumberland, Peterborough, surrounding areas)
Event volunteers, help take down, set up, or attend the event (GTA, Durham, Northumberland, Peterborough, surrounding areas)
Crafters, braid ropes, make foraging toys, sand down perches and ledges, etc.(GTA, Durham, Northumberland, Peterborough, surrounding areas)
Administrative Assistants, label e-mails, update contracts, policies, website, animal tracking software, etc. (remote)

Coordinator Volunteer roles (additional interview questions provided at a later date)

Events / Fundraising Coordinator, take on online or in-person event coordination (remote, preferably GTA, Durham, Northumberland, Peterborough, surrounding areas)
Raffles Team Lead, keep one of our most successful fundraisers flourishing! (remote, preferably GTA, Durham, Northumberland, Peterborough, surrounding areas)
Intake Coordinator, prioritize, schedule, and match intakes in collaboration with the Foster Coordinator based on our Intake policy (remote)
Donations Coordinator, keep track of donations, who they’re from, and where they go! (remote)
Foster and Adoptions Coordinator, screen and support fosters and adopters (remote)

A significant part of our work includes reducing barriers to animal companionship via Partnered Adoptions, a Sharing Shelf, payment plans, and sliding scales. How do you feel about people who are under-resourced/have low income adopting? *

Many rats that come into our care are now spay and neutered. Rats will first need to be approved as good candidates for the surgery by one of our veterinarians. It is decided on a case-by-case basis. This is done to prevent and stop pregnancy, as well as a number of health reasons. How do you feel about this? *
