About Us
*THIS PAGE NEEDS TO BE UPDATED IN LIGHT OF THE PARTIAL CLOSURE. We have currently paused most of our community rat care programs (partnered adoptions, veterinary care subsidies, sharing shelf, PWYC programs, etc.) along with our intakes. Right now we are only operating a Permanent Sanctuary Foster Program which is at capacity, and an affordable mystery subscription box full of rat enrichment and care items. We are still accepting donations, monthly supporters, and new subscribers to the Mystery Boxes.
We are still in need of financial support to care for the rats in our care, and for any plans to reopen fully.
Rainbow Rat Refuge is a domestic rat rescue based out of Nogojiwanong/Peterborough, Ontario. Our rescue is a registered non-profit organization that opened in the summer of 2021. We are small-scale, volunteer-run, and foster-based. We are based out of Nogojiwanong/Peterborough, with our Foster Families located within a 1.5hr radius.
